Garter Belts have made a comeback!
Since the early days, when these items were never seen, and not spoken about in polite company, they have, in the past thirty years, come out of the closet and rocketed to international prominence as the number one underwear fashion item for any sensible woman, although some would argue they are better as over or outerwear.
In times gone by they were strictly there to hold heavy woollen stockings in place. In a manner of speaking, they do still hold things in place, only so much better. They look better, feel better, and in the absence of coarse homespun woollen stockings, they are so much more comfortable.
T ypically, a belt made of elasticised stretch lace is put on around the waist of the wearer. This belt has several straps dangling from it, with little
clips on the ends. The straps are adjustable. The wearer clips the straps to the tops of the stockings, known as garters, which end in the mid to upper thigh region of the legs.

The underwear renaissance started in Europe in the 1960’s, when manufacturers started adding not only color to items in their range, but also little fancies, such as a tiny satin flowers. This may have been unheard of, but was very quickly adopted all over the world, and it is indeed a very rare designer who does not include frills and fancies in the patterns sent to the manufacturers.
